where is the total of the scores in group 1 squared, is the total of the scores in group 2 squared, etc. n1 is the sample size for group 1, n2 is the sample size for group 2, etc. For the example data,



SSB = 256/4 + 144/4 + 64/4 - 108 = 8

Since SST = SSB + SSE,
SSE = SST - SSB = 18 - 8 = 10
