If the null hypothesis were accepted for the two nonsignificant comparisons,
you would conclude that:
- µ1 ≠ µ3
- µ1 = µ2 and
- µ2 = µ3
which is clearly not possible. The proper conclusion is that either µ
1 ≠ µ
2, µ
2 ≠ µ
3 or
neither µ
1 nor µ
3 is equal to μ
2.
More data are needed to decide among these three alternatives.
