# Carryover Effects (3 of 4)

Carryover effects can also be asymmetric. Consider the following
table of means.

** Condition**

**Order** A_{1} A_{2}
A_{1} given first 8
A_{2} given first 5
A_{1} given second 10
A_{2} given second 15

Notice that performance in condition A

_{1} is only two points
(10 - 8) better if it follows condition A

_{2} than if it is
performed first. Compare this with performance in Condition
A

_{2}which is 10 (15 - 5) points better if it follows
condition A

_{1} than if it is performed first.
